It's official...I'm "unemployed".... actually, since today is a "holiday", I haven't had the pleasure of not "having" to be accountable yet....THAT comes tomorrow....followed by less than half a paycheck from now on. But, hey at least I get that and since the world didn't end last month and the the U.S. Gov't hasn't fallen off the "Cliff" ....YET, I may be able to expect to keep this up for a while.
So, I'm in Texas (Fort Worth) right now. My step-dad is in rehab - no, not that kind, and if you knew him, you'd KNOW that's a fact. He had a stroke and is learning to deal with the basic living skills again. My mom has to tend to some business, so I'm here to visit him, help out and hope he gets to come home soon.
Fort Worth is what I refer to as my home town. My family moved here when I was 15, so I graduated high school and Jr College here, left for a few years, came back and worked for the State for a few years, bought my first house here... But, since 1988, I've come here strictly to visit my folks. I do have 3 good friends (Doris, Marilyn, and Rosemarie) that I sometimes get to visit when I come and this time I'm here longer and I'm getting to do just that. I always find it interesting, but comforting, that with real friends, time "in between visits" just vanishes and you can catch up and laugh about old times without issue.
My son, currently with his girlfriend at her home in Ecuador for Christmas, lives in Dallas, so I get to see him this weekend, that will really be a treat!
The weather here reminds of again of one of the reasons that I left this area. Colder than a well digger's butt in the winter and hot, hot, hot and muggy in the summer. Today it's 29 degrees. Ugh...
Bud is busy in Puerto Villarta bravely battling the 80 degree temps. When I spoke to him yesterday, he had to put the phone down to take off his shirt because he was too "hot" in the sun.... He has found Sam's Club and the hardware store and has local transportation courtesy of some new friends on a live aboard there. I'd better get busy with that Rosetta Stone Spanish program because I have a feeling we will be there for a while!
His buddies, Doug and Larry are headed to visit him Sunday and they will stay for a month. That should keep him busy.
I will fly to PV on Feb 9th .... count down is on Baby!
Happy New Year to y'all and I will most likely not post again till I arrive (can't wait!!!)
